Outdoor Learning

Here at Beechcliffe school we believe outdoor learning offers many benefits for our pupils physical, mental, and social well-being, as well as academic and cognitive development. It adds additional engagement with learning, encourages physical activity, promotes positive mental health, develops social skills, confidence and a lasting love for the natural world.

Forest School

Pupils have the opportunity to spend time in the forest school area partaking in many activities such as den building, camp fires, climbing, exploring habitats, mini beast hunts, growing and collecting food for the school animals, exploring the seasons or art work using natural materials.

School Allotment

Beechcliffe school has two offsite allotments based in the Keighley area.

These are working allotments that are accessible  to our pupils, with pathways, raised beds and several large sheds to enable pupils to work indoors if the weather is wet or very cold. Throughout the winter months pupils make plans as to what items to grow the following year and then they then visit garden centres to purchase seeds for the next growing season.

Autumn always see us with an abundance of apples which we can eat or use in cooking sessions. These are often used to make apple crumbles which are eaten by pupils and also sold to staff by our enterprise groups.

Hey there, couldn’t help noticing you’re using Internet Explorer

That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.

If you’re using Windows 10 and want to stick with a built in browser, please consider switching to Edge. Or, if you really want to enjoy the internet properly we strongly recommend downloading Google Chrome here.
